My father worked for Mr. Mossler for many years. He actually fired my dad when he wanted to take off and go to a Beatles concert in Florida. Once and a lifetime opportunity my dad loving the Beatles went to Florida anyway. He came back and Mr. Mossler hired him back. He said it was gusty. We actually got to go inside the house when I was young. there were blood stains on the curtains in CANDACE"S ROOM> the whole place was just errie. You knew something had happened there.

The historical accuracy of that is debatable as some of those do not appear in old city directories.
  • 1717 Bissonnet Street, TLU2008 wrote 9 years ago:
From www.buckfund.com/1717%20Bissonnet/ [dead link]: The property at 1717 Bissonnet has been in constant use for commercial and multi-family residential purposes since it was first developed with a grocery store in 1929. ... In 1937, additional land was acquired and four apartments were built above new retail shops. These shops included an expanded Segrato’s Grocery, Jack & Jill liquor store, Frenchy’s restaurant, a barber shop and beauty salon and radio and television repair shop. Additional shops were later constructed along Bissonnet, including a laundromat, dry cleaners and eventually the original K-G Drugstore. Maryland Manor has been in operation since 1961. Originally it included 48 units in several buildings developed behind the Bissonnet retail center. In 1976, the Bissonnet store fronts were converted to efficiency apartments. In 1979, the adjacent former Gulf Oil service station, then being used as an automotive repair shop, was acquired by the apartment owner, the building removed, and the land incorporated into the apartment property as a parking lot. Between 1993 and 1995, the entire property was rehabilitated into its current state, comprising 67 apartments with approximately 100 current residents.
